Ford Ikon is a fashionable sedan which runs with sophistication. This car is manufactured by Ford Motor Company and has been assembling in Chennai, India to be sold there from 2008. Until December 2006 it used to be manufactured in South Africa, Mexico and China. It is a 4 door sedan with a FF layout of Ford B3 platform. The 1.3L in-line4, 69 bhp petrol engine produces torque of 105 Nm @ 2,500 rpm and 1.4L I-4 TDci, 67 bhp diesel engine with DuraTorq. In both options, a 5- speed manual transmission is mater with the engine.
Ford Ikon offers six variant models to the purchasers. They are 1.3 LXi, 1.3 Flair, 1.6 EXi, 1.6 ZXi, 1.8 EXi and 1.8 ZXi. All of these models are available in the market within the range of Rs 4.9 lakhs to Rs 5.5 lakhs. In short it can be said that this car proffers consistency and superior handling in an affordable price range.
