Madagascar has become one of the best places to go on a holiday. From an island that was non descript, it has evolved to become a important destination in the tourist calendar of the world. It is the 4th largest island in the World and there are many animals and birds that are unique to this island other than the millions of plants and trees that are here.

The island has become much more famous after the movies with the same name and it has also kindled the curiosity of the people who visit this unique island to taste the beauty of the place. There are also many smaller islands that dot the larger island and they give the place the unique aura that it has.

The beaches and islands:

The most important places on the island are the many beaches that dot the landscape. The very important of these beaches on various islands are the Nosy Be which is in the North Western part of Madagascar. The Ile Ste Marie is on the Western Coast of the island and it has many palm trees that line the coast giving the place a very picturesque look. If you are lucky and visit this beach in the months of July to October, you may be able to see many whales that are migrating. The Ifaty is another beach and the advantage if this beach is that you will be able to scuba dive here. You will also be able to watch many of the birds that breed on the islands.

Flora and fauna:

For a person who is interested in the ecology and the environment, Madagascar is a heaven. There are many species of animals and plants that are rarely seen in other places. Baobab is one of the species that is mainly found in this island. There are hundreds of varieties of various kinds of orchids that can be seen in this island. There are also many other medicinal plants that can be found on the island.

The wildlife in Madagascar is also as important and varied as the plant life on the island. Many of this animal life are not seen in other parts of the world. This is said to be because of the fact that this island has been isolated from the rest of the world for millions of life and has had its own evolution over the past millions of years.

Other places to visit on Madagascar

Madagascar is dotted with places where you can have a great time and picnic. Of these one of the very famous places is the Nature reserve that is present on the West Coast by name Tsingy de Bemaraha. There are many animals and plants that are on the endangered list living in these reserve forests. While you are in Madagascar, you can also visit places like Antananarivo, Ambohimanga, Mahajanga and other places.
