The poem underlines the significance of 'lamp', holy and divine, which drives away darkness and ignorance; however, each one has a lamp within him which continues to burn, and such lamps within all together would brighten the whole earth.

-----------------
LAMP IN THYSELF
-----------------------
Lamp brings light, set things bright.
Darkness erased, warmth emblazed;
Yes! Lamp so lit is divine,
Lamp so set is holy.

The wick sustains burns,
The oil slowly drains.
It often has to resist,
Where harsh wind persists.

Blind doth not see light,
Everything dark; no sight.
They do not light their lamp,
Nor do they want others to.

Dump not a lamp under drums,
For it needs air to breath.
A little space to share,
A little care to spare.

Each and all have a lamp,
Let drums of blindness not trap,
Radiance of others' talents,
Lingering as one's own part.

Like the wide mighty ocean,
Made of little drops of water,
Let each little lamp of thee,
Brighten earth; for all to see.
