In order to get private companies involved in the research program of one university they needed to find a way for both sides to meet. Labeling the conference as academic entrepreneurship helped a biotechnical center in one state. An official organization like this one exists by state law for technological advancement. The state will evaluate the application of a center to see if certain qualifications are met.
The state allots one million dollars for research funds but receiving any amount from the state will require the center to find a private donor matching what they already have. Other than talk about dentistry and surgery a venture capital organization supported a conference that also spoke of drugs.
