Ephesians 6:10-12, Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. NIV

The powers of darkness refer to the ungodly spirit beings that control all evil. Once they were good spirits but are now in rebellion. The prince of darkness is of course Satan who is the enemy of all good. The goal of the powers of darkness is to destroy all humanity and to this end there are real people who cooperate with them to achieve this purpose. Their plan of attack is always the mind, later the body, and last of all the spirit of men and women. All attacks of the enemy start with our senses, our eyes, our taste, smell, touch, and what we hear.

When you first see, smell, or taste something and desire it, you are agreeing with whatever component it is made of. If it is something evil you are opening a door or in spiritual terms, a portal through which something from Satan's realm can come into your life. You will first be enticed by this beast and feel very good, than you will start having illusions that are not natural to your character which in turn will lead to some type of oppression than depression from your demonic pet. The end result is to be possessed by some spirit from the evil world. In this state you will agree with everything that is evil and immoral. All family values will go out the window as you agree more and more with the powers of darkness. So you have illusions, oppression, depression and finely possession.

The powers of darkness are coming to your neighborhood and will surely knock at your door one day. They are there to steal your joy, your money, your children, your marriage, your health and your soul. It all sounds eerie as if it was a Hollywood movie, but this is no movie. In my life time I have seen it go from a married couple not being able to kiss on a TV series to two men hugging and kissing on prime time TV. In the small New Jersey town in which I was raised there was no such thing as a gay couple or even an out of wed child. Sure they were some children born out of wedlock, but this was something that was really unacceptable to the town fathers and we were taught not to let this happen to us. Today they would be called, backwards, and primitive, or out of touch with modern society.

In the space of fifty years the powers of darkness have changed the way we view life. Now if you say this type of behavior is evil and immoral you are called a bigot or homophobic. Greed is the new way in which we measure success even in so called Christian circles. The more you have the more you are valued and admired. A spirit of fear has taken over for a spirit of decency and people mask there fear by not speaking out about the most obvious sins and debauchery. The powers of darkness have raised so much money working through their human host that they now have the same power as the government.

If you don't agree with these powers and there human host they can destroy your life by making you lose your job or position in your community. Their success comes from turning others against you and making you feel worthless and out of touch with modern society as they like to say. What I call the media church has stood by for all these years watching and basically agreeing with what the powers of darkness say and do. In order to keep their position, many pastors and evangelist have been telling the church people what they want to hear. Mainly that God is going to visit the church and give her new powers that have never been seen before. They like to call this the final harvest with great miracles and great healings being done by the church people. Oh, this is going to happen one day but not in the visible church which is now the church of the world.

They all agree on the same thing because that is what church people want to hear. They don't want to hear that the church is in a disgraceful state and is playing with the powers of darkness and rolling in bed with the devil himself. Very few are the people who look and weep at the state of Christianity in the world today. Wolfs disguise as pastors are tearing at the sheep to see who gets more money and better living conditions along with more fame. Deacons and elders are more like falcons hunting down the doves of God to have their next meal. It has all become one big lie and the lie is protected by the powers of darkness and there human counterparts who sometimes are right in our church pulpits.

In this state of fear people have forgotten that Jesus is Lord and God, and he has all authority in heaven and on earth. In him you don't have to fear the thugs of hell and their human partners. If Jesus is your source, Satan cannot fire you or steal from you your joy or home. The powers of darkness do not have the power that God Almighty has or the power the Father has given to his son Jesus Christ. The demons know that God really does exist and tremble at his name. They can get away with causing mayhem because of the greed of most people who want their cake and want to eat it to, this means that they want God but also want the world and all its pleasures. When asked to pick, they pick what they can see with their eyes and can control with their senses.

But all is not lost because God does have his people who obey and are taking up positions against the powers of darkness, their human partners, and the witches and wizards that follow them. You cannot see them, but they are there doing the Fathers will at any cost. Like Navy seals these are the elite of Gods church, going into battle without fear for their Captain is with them.

Luke 10:17-20 the seventy two returned with joy and said, "Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name." He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trampled on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits are subject to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven." NIV
