Michael Phelps, the 8 times gold medal winner in the Olympic games at Beijing China, says that "The best athletes can compete under any circumstances". How did Michael, who was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disease (ADHD) as child, went on to become one of the giants in Swimming pool? The obvious answer is he realized his potential and strength quite early. Science, Mathematics or History did not interest him. To him being in the swimming pool mattered the most. Through vigorous practice and efforts, Michael has now become one of world's best athletes. Sir Winston Churchill once rightly said "Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential".
Potential is the inherent capability in an individual waiting to be unleashed. All of us are endowed with a natural potential which far exceeds our ability to use it in a single life term. It does not matter what we may / may not have accomplished in the past. But it really does matter what we intend to do from this moment onwards, taking life forward with a clear, specific and definite purpose in mind.
Every thing that we see around us is a product of someone's imagination or creativity. Our thoughts are often creative and powerful. To unleash our potential it greatly depends on what we think. To begin with we need to believe in ourselves and realize our strengths. Most people live their lives in the direction of their most dominant thoughts. When we are not sure about ourselves and what we intend to do in life, it vitiates our thinking prowess and leads to a nebulous vision of life. Clarifying what we want will set in motion the necessary events that will put us on the path to self realization and success
Human Potential is boundless. It is unfathomable. Every individual is a collage of talents and the onus is on each one of them to develop it to its full potentiality. An individual who has not lived up to his potentialities is like the "Bonsai" tree which exhibits all the characteristics of a fully grown tree but is a shortened version of it. They are like the flower buds which are waiting to blossom and spread its fragrance.
We were all born with an abundance of potentialities. As a child we had no hassles in exploring our creative selves and doing the impossible. Everyday was a new day with lot of challenges. Life was so exciting and enthralling then. As we grew up the mundane world taught us to see things as they are and not to challenge it. We lost our sense of curiosity and inquisitiveness. We no longer believe in ourselves and in our strengths. In the process our potentialities got locked for eternity.
Let us all take a relook at our selves and bring in those obscured effervescence in to our lives. Let us revisit those moments when we did the improbable. The talent is very much there. Our potential is intact. Let today be the first day for the rest of our lives.
Let's unlock our Potential!!!
