It was rainy season, after a long hic up in the traffic I reached hurry burry to the conference room on time; my other colleagues were waiting for me to start the discussion on marketing strategies for the next quarter. Because of the current situations and other factors we were not able to focus on our traditional marketing approaches in the last quarter. We were planning that what to do about the new services that we have added to our kitty, it should be reachable to all the target audience. One of my friend from the corner of the room told that we will implement "digital marketing". Let's focus on digital marketing rather than pushing ourselves to traditional marketing. All of a sudden other colleague of mine asked what is that. Can we implement? After an hour of discussion we concluded that the journey for the next quarter will begin with "Digital Marketing". Then we started our planning's and strategies to implement Digital Marketing completely and the rest followed.
Let me tell you one thing that my niece never sleeps in the night without playing Temple run and my cousin keeps his smart phone beside the bed before going to sleep. The world is moving ahead, we are turning digital. As per the mobile statistics the weight of 10,000 elephants is equal to the iPhones sold in 2011 ( 6 tones per elephant and 130gm per smartphone). Whatever be the need we are so habituated that we Google it. Even if we require the address of any restaurant we either google it or we look for an app to help us. That's how we are going ahead in the race. As per the April- June 2013 period statistics the Facebook users in India are 82 million. By looking at the analytics I thought that Digital Marketing can play a vital role for the organization. The next future of Sales and marketing is through Digital Marketing.
But the question was that Are we really ready to implement Digital Marketing in our organization. I thought that we should go ahead with the technology and we should implement it at any cost. We should be expertise in this and make sure that we will put the same efforts as we did for our traditional marketing. Before diving deeper, what exactly is "Digital Marketing". To be more in common terms it is marketing over Internet or doing marketing over Web 2.0 technology. Yes, marketing through different on line channels and mobile is called as Digital Marketing. Whether, it is traditional or Digital at the end of the day it is reaching to the customer or end user is marketing. Business is all about customers. When your products or services reach your customers through any medium then there will not be any issue unless and until the message is loud and clear.
I was reading one of the business newspaper everyday as e-paper in my laptop, but now I prefer to use the app of it and read it from my smart phone. Because, it really makes exciting that we are reading something even if we are travelling or moving. Every day in the evening I get an e-mail from one of my partner for the updates in Digital marketing and Digital world. Without reading his e-mail I never shut down my laptop. It makes sense when we are in the right path of our goal. To achieve something we need to move ourselves on the right path.
Is Digital Marketing really putting ourselves to transform or is it the new era of marketing? This query hits my mind every now and then. Let's discuss more on this in the next post.
