India is the second most populous country in the world. It is all set to become the most populous country in the world in another few years. This is one of the things that India has to be worried about. There are many countries in the world where the population is decreasing very rapidly and this has also been causing problems.
In India, there are various reasons for the increase in the population and these include personal sentiments, religious sentiments and other considerations. Whatever these considerations, they have caused a great impact in the lives of the people and the growth of the population in India has been on a growth path that does not seem to decrease to a large extent.
The reasons due to which the population growth is a problem in India are as follows:
1. Depleting natural resources:
As the population of the country keeps increasing, the natural resources in the country will be depleted over a period of time. This will cause further economic burden on the people of "India leading to the poverty of people. This is a vicious cycle that needs to be stopped in the middle and so various methods to decrease the growth of population should be undertaken.
2. Increasing poverty:
As the population of India increases, there is a growth in the number of people who are poor too. This increase in the poverty can be a great social issue leading to a mismatch and social unrest in the country that can further lead to insurgency and communal problems.
3. Growth of cities:
The fact that most of the increase in the population has again caused an increase in the growth of cities has become a disturbing fact. If the growth of the population causes a increase in the cities as well as the villages on a equal proportion is best for the country. The fact that the growth of cities is much faster than the growth of villages has made it more dangerous for the country.
4. Poor economic development:
The need to provide a lot of the basic necessities to all the people who are under the poverty line has caused a great burden on the economy of the country. This has in turn affected the economic development of the country. The poor economic development can even cause a crisis in the country. This is a big worry for the country due to the increase in the population.
5. Increasing subsidies:
The subsidies that are being provided for the people of the country has made the government spend a major chunk of the revenue on them and so there is very little money that is available for the development of the nation. This is the major reason for the problems faced by India because of the increase in the population.
These are the reasons that make the population growth to be a very big problem in India. It is well known that the control of population growth is a sensitive issue, but the government needs to make adequate steps to prevent further problems.
